Ex- NFL Athlete Antonio Brown Enters Innocent Response in Murder Attempt Trial
One-time National Football League player Antonio Brown is returning to Miami to address an attempted murder charge stemming from a gunfire that occurred in May, with his lawyer submitting a innocent plea on his behalf.
Correctional records in Essex, New Jersey, show that Brown was released on Tuesday early for his move to the state of Florida. Brown, a highly popular athletes in the National Football League, had forgone transfer to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was held after being apprehended in Dubai.
Brown’s counsel, Mark Eiglarsh, said in an communication that he has previously submitted a written innocent declaration to the murder attempt accusation. Brown could be in a Miami hearing as early as Wednesday early for a release session, Eiglarsh stated.
As per his detention order, Brown is accused of seizing a pistol from a security staffer after a public figure match event in May and discharging a couple of shots at a person he had confronted with earlier. The alleged target, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, told authorities that a bullet touched his nape.
Eiglarsh said that Brown was only protecting himself from Nantambu.
“The actions he was forced to take were exclusively in self-defense against the alleged person’s aggressive behavior. Brown was targeted that time and behaved within his legal entitlement to protect himself,” Eiglarsh commented.
Brown was not immediately detained because at first authorities did not identify Nantambu as a victim. It not until later in May that Nantambu provided a full testimony about the situation to police and named Brown as the gunman, the report says.
According to his online content, Brown had been living in the city of Dubai for multiple period. In a update after the altercation, Brown said he was defending himself because he was “jumped by numerous individuals who tried to steal my possessions and cause bodily injury to me.”
A category two attempted murder allegation in Florida imposes a highest 15-year incarceration sentence and up to a $10,000 fine in the instance of a guilty verdict.
Brown has encountered numerous judicial issues over the period. He previously had been alleged of physical attack of a delivery operator, various family violence accusations, failure to pay child support and other incidents.
